Data sources and attributions

Scenta stands on the work of dataset publishers, open data projects and open-source maintainers. Here is where our data comes from and the licenses it carries.

Fragrance catalog

The Scenta catalog was seeded from the public datasets below and grows with what our community adds and verifies. We normalise, merge and de-duplicate the records and keep the source of every catalog fact. Licenses are shown as each dataset's publisher states them; they apply to that dataset, and rights holders can reach us through the copyright page.

Fragrance and brand names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify products. Brand details are enriched from Wikidata, available under CC0.

Weather

Weather in Scenta, including Today's pick and longevity by climate, is provided by Apple Weather. Other data sources. Apple Weather is a trademark of Apple Inc.

Barcodes

Barcode lookups use data from Open Beauty Facts, made available under the Open Database License (ODbL); individual contents are under the Database Contents License, and product images under CC BY-SA 3.0. Open Beauty Facts data is kept separate from our own and credited on this page. The app does not display its product images.

Other barcodes are looked up with UPCitemdb under its API terms.

Cities and currencies

City names and locations come from GeoNames, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Prices are converted with the euro foreign exchange reference rates published by the European Central Bank.
